to be honest I'm looking for a new fan on myself right now. I checked the technical specs from the Magma fan and tried to find a similar one which is quieter. The fan of the Magma box is approved with HDX 3 in the box. So if you have only one car installed it should be okay to get a fan with less but quieter performance. Anyway I'm really disappointed by the noise of the Magma fan. WAY TOO LOUD!

I am with WernerF on this one, I do not understand why their fans have to be that loud. On the other hand I do not think that even the most quiet fans will not make any noise given that the HDX cards produce quite some heat.
Having the chassis next door with a longer TB cable seems to be the only solution to me.

I will post some news regarding the longer cables as soon as I have them.

That or if you have an Isobox, you can always place it in it.

Which isoboxes would you recommend, preferably ones that are available in Europe?!

Oliver
I like sound constructions they have made custom isoboxes for me in the past with the exact wood laminate I wanted and it didn't cost a house.

I don't know if they are distributed in Europe though

To be honest I don't really think that 10.8 is my main problem as it ran fine on my Mac Pro. Regarding the testdrive with an older laptop and 10.7.x installed is a pretty good idea, but none of my buddies has such a machine. Some of them have older ones (without Thunderbolt port) and the others all have the 2012 models.

I'm talking to my dealer about a chassis swap but he thinks that would not be the solution for my problems. Unfortunately I have it for about 3 weeks now and I can only give it back within 14 days.

Anyway I have another guess.
The Mac Pro was just used for audio and nothing else.
On the Macbook Pro I also have Photoshop, Office and so on. Maybe that could be a problem as well (you never know)

Yesterday I think it was a little bit more stable as I removed all RTAS Virtual Instruments from my plug ins folder as well as the Massey plugins, Flux stuff and Altiverb. And I think it ran smoother. Removing the VIs is no big deal because I run Vienna Ensemble Pro anyways.

Thanks for your support

Thanks for all your support.
As for recording I have a Western Digital Black 1TB in an external housing and I tried FW 800 connection and USB 3.0
