Hi guys
It'good for you to upgrade my Mac Pro Mid 2010 Nehalem Quad Core 2,8GHz with a 2010 Processor Tray 6 Core 3.33Ghz W3680 / 32GB 1333Mhz RAM??
I have HD 2 Installed on my Mac, but I want to exchange with new HDX & PT HD 12.5

It's a good investment on my machine?

Thanks a lot!

I would not upgrade a single-cpu to a faster one, especially if you have HD and likely use a lot of TDM plugins

OK, but I really don't use a lot of TDM plugin.. and I want to exchange my HD2 with HDX... So can I install HD 12.5 on my Quad Core machine?

Yes. But why?

Your 8.1.1 is as stable as it can be, you need to have a real reason for the upgrade. Say, you need Cloud Collaboration, your new plugin purchases require newer operating system than Snow Leopard, your some other software XYZ doesn't run on your current machine... Obviously crossgrading from TDM to HDX is a real reason, but if you don't use much DSP now, why on earth would you change to another type of DSP? HD2 can support 64 i/o so in that regard you would be fine with HDN

Tough thing to say for sure, but usually two years older cpu is slower no matter the clock speed. Take this as a guess, but I'd say the i7 is faster.

But with that said, the laptop will run hot if you stress it, and therefore the fans make a lot of noise and you won't be able to put it under your desk.

So you would not do the processor upgrade, and install the HDX on my current computer..... Is it correct?

I would at least start with the current computer and see if there's going to be performance problems. If so, then do something about it. If not, be happy
