That was an excellent webinar and what a great guy Mick is.
Stayed quite a while over the estimated time to answer more questions and he was the one who said let's answer a few more! Well done Sir

Very well explained and super nice vibe all over.

Thank You for that guys!

Tom, Mick is an amazing mixer, one of the best... but I'm wondering if the title of the thread is a little misleading. What hits were mixed on S6 and HDX? For over a decade he mixed on his Oxford console, then Daft Punk was mixed on an analog desk and then he started using several artist series consoles. Has he now moved to an S6 and if so which records were done on it?

Thank You for that guys!
Glad that you liked it - thanks!
A lot of effort from many people goes into pulling these together and trying to video and show the console too. We appreciate your positive feedback.
Mick is really a fantastic guy and I love that he is willing to share his methodology and setup with the world. I learned a bunch hanging with him and was inspired to try some new things. My top takeaways were:

1. Your VCA Groups don't have to have a one to one relationship with the aux subgroups. It's okay to have more of the sub groups for finer control of the processing and balances.
2. You don't have to limit yourself to mixing and automating on the source tracks or VCA's - you can do moves and rides on the sub groups. In fact - it seems like he likes to do that quite a bit - a cool way to macro/micro mix the song.
3. His take on reverbs I think was very insightful - in many ways. It was great to hear that a top mixer can do everything he needs with plug-ins and how he can manipulate them to get depth.
4. exciting to see how he has built a really great console that is super efficient for him to get everything he needs in 1 button push.

Cheers,
T

Thank You for these awesome video webinars Tom. We really learn a lot and appreciate the work and time that goes into making them. Great sound and picture aswell.

You asked a lot of great questions and kept the pace perfect dor us to follow along, And Mick really is an impressive guy. So calm and "understandable" and explains how he does it which made me 100% sure to be ordering an S-6 now as we have a buyer on our D Control ES.

Again Thank You very much Tom and team for making these webinars and making them really great and informative with the very Elite in the business

Just watched this, very cool. I like Mick's session template, it's a bit more complex than what I usually do but makes sense.

Just wondering, how does he put the process module keys into "all" on the S6 so that they all go to the same thing, where is that preference? Thanks!

I haven't watched the video, but I'm guessing you are referring to the 'All' button on the master module. Not to be confused with the 'do to all' soft key.

Look on the left side of the MM for the three rows of buttons that include banking and layout functions. The top right button is labeled 'All'. Press it once and it stays on. While it's on, anything you press on the Process Module affects all channels. Press again to toggle off.

On a side note, I like to flip it on and press the 'exp' (Expand) button to put all channels in Expand mode at the beginning of a session. With all channels in expand mode, the knob module always gets dominated by any function I touch on any channel.
