Adat and spdif using 003
I'm using a 003 console (w/PT8) but I was wondering has anyone known of using the console as the master and slaving another 8-ins/8-outs from a rack mount 003 to the 003 console? Via Optical Cable adat. I've read that the hardware wasn't made to share via firewire but could you slave it..?
Probly a big resounding no but I can't read it anywhere in the forum. |

Re: Adat and spdif using 003
You won't be able to do this because the 003 does not act as a standalone converter.
You would need something like the Focusrite Saffire Pro 40, or Presonus Digimax. |

Re: Adat and spdif using 003
Indeed^^^ Some other options include:
Behringer ADA8000(cheap but similar quality to the 003) Behringer ADA8200(better but still a bargain) Presonus D8 Focusrite OctoPre Mk II, Mk II Dynamic(the Dynamic version being a really good value) Focusrite ISA-428 w/digital card(not cheap, but pretty stellar) As for using the SPDIF input(RCA connection), the ART Digital MPA and DBX-386 are good options on a small budget The Behringer ADA8200 is the best "bang for the buck" as long as you don't mind the inputs being on the front panel
