Smile Triggering Sounds While Playing Live............

I am trying to use percussion samples while playing live drums, but I'm not sure how to trigger the samples. Can I just use my laptop? or should i use my PT 8 system? Any and all ideas or answers are greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Mike
