Default Drive Compatbility with Toast

I'm running an archaic system: G4 450, PT LE 5.1, Toast 4.1.2, OS 9.04
I haven't updated to 6 and OS X because I don't want to lose all of my plug ins.
For years I've used Toast with an external QueFire drive that finally died on me. I bought an Iomega as a replacement but toast won't recognize it. The Iomega only works with the crummy program they provided and crashes my system more than it works.
Does anyone know of a reliable CDR drive available now that would be compatable with Toast on this system?...anyone?........anybody? Thanks in advance.

Default Re: Drive Compatbility with Toast

I suggest to get an upgrade to Toast 5 from roxio or ebay. It still runs on OS9, runs in the backgound
and supports a whole lot more drives including DVD and MMC-3 Standart (which is nearly all writers today). Might be more effective than searching for an old CDR.

Toast 4.x supported only writers up to 32 speed or so. Yamaha might be one of your best options here, as far as I remember, but also most older IOmega writers shipped with Toast Lite, so may be you got as USB driver prob somehow.
