Default If You Are Upgrading to HDX - Do it This Way

For those of you wanting to upgrade, if you are currently PCIe, then do not do the upgrade with your cards. Sell your cards, buy used PCI(x) cards and use those to upgrade....You'll come out several grand ahead. Trust me, I mastered the last upgrade several years ago when it was Mix to PCIe systems. I bought tons of Mix Cards, transferred ownership, and then sold the new system, made several grand off each system.

Whatever you do, make sure the PCI(x) cards come with a transfer of ownership. As the card will need to be registered in your name for the upgrade.

Nothing illegal about it and it does not violate AVID rules if the hardware is registered in your name.

Yes, that´s the way to go.
Can you confirm that you need to do the "ownership" thing?
Can be tricky when dealing with 10 years old cards with maybe a few owner changes through the years.

Yes you need to have the cards under your name and it can be tricky to find this type of deals on the ebay. You might also get lucky if original owner never registered (happened to me) but to count on it is foolish. Ask if the seller is registered owner + confirm by sending the serials to Avid for confirmation.
