Does anybody knows the difference between Pitch & Time Pro and P&T LE?

P&T LE is half the price of P&T Pro. Are they using the same algorithms?

Is P&T LE as good as Pitch & Time Pro when processing 5.1 stems?

Thanks!

Hello Serge,

To my knowledge, LE includes only a "fixed" processing ratio for Pitch and for Time, and includes only the "Harmonic" algorithm from Pro, which additionally has the "Transient" and "Vocal" algorithm (which is phenomenal). Additionally, Pro has the Variable windows, where you can set breakpoints (handles) to stretch/compress seamlessly within a selection... individually for Time & for Pitch, as needed. Also, Pro has a very cool VSO implementation, plus a Morph mode for phrase-matching. For those of us who sometimes dig VERY deeply into the details, the extra features in Pro are indispensable!!

And with 3.0, Pro now has waveform zoom, which is a HUGE help when working with quiet audio in the Variable & Morph windows! Sorry if this sounds like a commercial for 'em, but I've used PnT Pro nearly every day for many years & rely on it HEAVILY! Hope this helps...

As to your 5.1 stems question, I'm not certain, sorry.... might require a trial spin to know for sure.

Warmest Regards,
Brian

BDWillis,

We have one copy of P&T Pro but we were looking to buy a second copy for another suite. You are right, P&T Pro sound incredibly well and the variable window is a great feature too. I have to agree, P&T Pro seems to be the only way to go.

Richard,

I will definitely demo the new release.

Thank you both for your input.

I've been a PnT Pro user for 8 years now, and have found nothing better. I regularly use the features that are missing in the LE version and would not want to be without them. If you can afford it, I would go with Pro.

For anyone who happens to catch this thread, just make sure your running ProTools 10.3.5 or above. PnT 3.0 won't authorize & launch properly otherwise.... been a problem over on the Serato forums for some users.

Warmest Regards,
Brian

Yes, I tried with 10.3.4 on my laptop and it would not see P&T but with 10.3.7 it works fine.

Does anybody tried the version 3 yet? because I have two little problems.

1-The source and target start time and end time don't update when selecting a
region in the edit window. but the length are ok.

2-The "capture" button doesn't seem to work because I can't capture a length
from a region and apply it to another region.

Also I tried to Time stretch dialog with P&T Pro and the plugin is doing a GREAT job. But the quality of P&T Pro change drastically when using it as the default in the preferences Pro tools trim tool.

Otherwise when used as an audiosuite plugin, it is very good. I like the morph window very much and will definitely buy another pro copy.

Re: #1 Hmmm, it seems okay here.... Fwiw, the "Start" number for both source & target are always "zero", because it's referring to the time (length) of the selected audio within PnT Pro, not (for example) the Time Code location of a clip inside the ProTools session. Or perhaps I'm not understanding the issue!

Re: #2 Yes, the "Capture" button is a known issue with this release, along with a couple others which I believe they'll fix with a maintenance release after a bit of a "bug collection" period.

Re: PnT quality when used as the TC/E tool.... Is there any chance you have the "Voice" algorithm as your PnT Pro User Default for the plug-in, and also have selected "User Default" (as opposed to "factory default") in ProTools prefs for TC/E tool use? That would result in music being processed by the Voice algo, and would likely sound quite garbled..... just a wild guess there.

Warmest Regards,
Brian
