Default fixing audio

Hi,
I'm in the middle of editing tons of voiceovers for a huge animated project--I recorded everyone separately and am stringing everything together scene by scene and adjusting the volume. Some of the audio was recorded at a friend's house with a different mic and while most of it sounds fairly close to the rest of the voiceovers (that I recorded in my hosue) some of it sounds slightly muffled compressed. When I try to fix it using the eq, it only slightly helps. Any tips on other filters I can use that might help reduce the muffled sound?
THanks alot!!

I guess that I would try to muffle (EQ) and slightly compress the takes from your home to match the friend's mic. Then bring new mid-range EQ on all the material to punch it back up. Worth an experiment anyway. To EQ the muffled tracks only, might be difficult because you're trying to boost upper range frequencies in a signal that doesn't have them to start with. The slight compression probably won't be the only compression you do for the final mix.
