Thinking about getting PT12. Please help answer a few questions.

Hello, a few years ago my band recorded an album at a friends studio with ProTools 7. I really liked the editing of Protools and got really familiar with it, so I would like to purchase it for our next album, which we are planning on starting this fall.

I have some questions.

If I were to do an upgrade from Protools 11 Express that comes with an M box to the Protools 12 cross grade, do I need to use the M box? I already own a Presonus Firestudio and a Focusrite Sapphire. I do not need to use a one channel M box unit as well.

Second question.

Can I install the Protools Software onto my guitar players laptop if I do the above installation, and then allow him to take the iLok and that MBox Im not going to use to his house so he can work on leads at his house by himself, and then he can return the iLok to the studio space when he is done so we can work on the main PC?

Third Question.

If I were to do the above thing, would it work if I use a PC for the studio and he use a Macbook for his house?

Last Question.

My bass player is currently in school for business management. Is he able to purchase the student edition or do you have to be a music student? If he can purchase it, what steps does he need to take? Does he show proof of college during the purchase, or during activation if we plan on going that route?

He should be able to as long as he has proof.
