Default 32 sample buffer size w/ pt 9 & 002

hello

i have been reading lots about people having the option of selecting a buffer size of 32 when using an 002 or 003. i, unfortunately, only get to 64. i am on windows 7 64 bit and am wondering why this would be? any ideas as to why some have the option and i do not? i have done all optimizations and am running a very powerful i7 build w/ 8 gigs o ram. are there any settings i could be able to tweak to allow for the 32 buffer option, perhaps in pro tools?! thanks!!!

I think people mean a 32 buffer when using low latency mode, may be someone will chime in here to confirm

Because mine only shows 64 buffer as the lowest

hope this helps

I think that it's only available on a Mac

Yup. Mac only. But don't feel bad. I have never had a single complaint about latency at 64.

hey guys

thanks for all the quick replies! after looking over some of the posts i saw about the 32 buffer looks like it is mac only w/ an 002 or 003, although someone did post they have a 32 buffer with a mr816 interface in w7 64 bit. you're right albee, but it would be a nice option wouldn't it!?

If you're running above 48k sample rate (e.g. 88, 96) a 128 sample buffer is the minimum....but don't worry, 128 samples at 96k is the same latency as 64 samples at 48k.

I use a 64 sample buffer for tracking and it's never been a problem for me or clients.
