Digi recommends Oxford chips for FW drives. I got the EZQuest FW800 with oxford chips, and my sessions are lightning fast now with unlinited plugs, at 128 on my Quad.

I used a FW400 with no oxford before that, and was forced to stay at 1024 and 4-buffer. Now it's 128 with 2-buffer, and unlimmited plugs, and I have the Waves Platinum and Altiverb, and L1, and my 12+ plugs were taxing the system before.

Thanks for the reply!

The last time I looked they recommend the 911 chipset for 6.4 specifically, and there was no mention of the 924.

924 is mentioned as supported with LE 7, and Tiger.

I'm thinking of getting one of these.

I tried one of the WD "MyBook" series drives that used Oxford 924 (after waiting about a week on a tech support email to find out for sure - the print documentation didn't list anything).

Maybe they're supported now... but PT would not even open a session for me from that drive.
I can't remember the specific errors anymore, as this was probably about 6 months ago.

Thanks!

It looks like I'll be rolling the dice with 6.4, but even if it doesn't work for running sessions the hotswap feature is still nice for backups.

Thanks!

Still out of budget. Hopefully sometime in the next couple months when the shoestring gets a bit longer.
