6.2.2 pops and clicks
yep, I know, G4's not supported blah blah blah...... but all that aside, does anyone know the answer to this:
Several sessions using a range of plugins (all panther-savvy) seem to pop and click whenever they like during playback. Doesn't do it at the same place everytime. No logic to it at all. And it doesn't appear on the bounce downs. Any takers?? Cheers Setup: 10.3.2, G4MDD Dual 1 ghz, PT 6.2.2 on HD2 with 96 interface. All plugins legit (do I need to say that? Maybe...) Clean ATA drives (seagate). |

Re: 6.2.2 pops and clicks
i am getting the same thing and i am afraid of what i have to do tonight. I am printmastering a film for sundance tonight and every few seconds, there is a click. In a different place everytime. It DOES get recorded on the record file that I am making. I have over 100 tracks and many busses and i don't think i can simply do a bounce down. I need to record through the automated auxes.
This is crippleing. I don't know if we can finish the film on time with this problem. Digi, please help. |

Re: 6.2.2 pops and clicks
i hope this helps.
check your memory. i had random pops on importing tracks. (and playback) i changed out the memory and it went away. there was a large, bad batch of high quality ram that hit the market several months ago. peace scott

Re: 6.2.2 pops and clicks
dodgy memory - well, probably not, only because I've not changed the memory since I bought the machine over a year ago.
I'll pull the extra 512 MB card out though - worth a try. Closing plugin windows seemed to make it go away. Especially those on the master channel. Might help. |

Re: 6.2.2 pops and clicks
currnetly on hold with tech support. They mentioned the bad ram issue. I get this without any plugin windows open. Maybe i will try to pull some ram when i get home. What about downgrading back to jaguar? Seems like a royal pain, but would be a pleasure when compared to my clients wrath if i can't deliver a clean mix the night before he leaves with his film for sundance.

Re: 6.2.2 pops and clicks
Hi guys,
What are the settings of your HW Buffer Size and which "voices per dsp" engine are you using (both these settings are in the Playback Engine dialog)? If you change these settings do the pops and clicks disappear? For example, try changing the HW Buffer Size to 1024. Thanks, -Ted DAE Group Digi Engineering |
