Default Keeping Preferences and Settings when opening other studios projects.

Hi everybody, I'm new in this forum.

I'm having this issue,

Every time I open a PT project in my computer, that was recorded in another studio, my PT preferences and settings change. Then if I open a new project, I'll have the others preferences, transport settings, view settings (as clip info), waves colours, etc. I change the I/O settings to mine when opening their projects, but I can't find how to keep my settings and preferences and not "importing" theirs. I hope this is clear. Please help me with this. Thanks a lot in advance!

I've never found an "easy" way to do this. I just spend the first 15 minutes doing "cleanup".

Step1-open Setup>IO>Bus tab and delete any bogus paths mapped to outputs. Also look for any duplicate paths(and delete) and anything that needs to be renamed. Then save.

Step 2-adjust things like track color, zoom settings and track size.

Step 3-reset track outputs for my rig. Set any unavailable inputs to NONE.

Save again(I might go Save As and rename the session so I know its all set for my system, leaving the original intact)

What I do is when I first get my brand new interface, I open a blank session and map all of my i/o, busses, and hardware inserts the way I want them to show and in the order I want them. Then save the i/o setup file. Only have to do this once when you first get the interface. Whenever I get a session from a client, I simply open i/o setup and on each tab (Inputs, Outputs, Busses), I load my own i/o settings and delete any unused busses and any i/o paths not used in the session when it asks.

As for the colors and transport, always have to do that manually.

Use the PT Prefs tool made by Pete Gates, you can find it in this very forum. I've used it to manage preferences for multiple users on the same system.

And Trasher for PC allows you to not only backup and restore your Preferences, but also your I/O settings.

Yes. You can backup/restore pretty much anything. Very handy tool.
