Playback = Slow & Distorted.

With Windows XP 32-bit (my previous OS) & Windows 7 64-bit (my current OS):
*I use an Mbox 2 Usb with Pro Tools LE 8.0.5.

*I get a slow & distorted playback in and outside of Pro Tools LE 8.0.5. This started happening 4 days ago.

*In PT8.0.5, when I hit the 'play' button, the 'play' icon flashes about 4 times; as if I selected a pre-roll. I didn't.

*Deleted all Digidesign/Avid-related products and executed a fresh install a gazillion times with both operating systems, checked my preferences, optimizations, setup options, double-checked the health of my hard drives, tried different usb slots, etc. No dice. Same issue.

*Now with my device plugged-in, after a restart, my keyboard and mouse are disabled at the Windows login screen.

*My option to select 48hz is never saved. It always resets to 44hz. Weird.

*Other than having to invest in a new non-Avid audio interface, with a very tight budget, how can this be remedied?
