Default Pro Tools 10HD&11HD not recognizing HDX connected Digidesign 192 i/o

I borrowed a digidesign 192 i/o from a friend to see if it is possible to add some extra inputs to my existing setup (mac pro 5,1, hdx, hd i/o 8x8x8, mavericks). i've read many times that hd i/o and 192 i/o can co-exist connected to a hdx card.
so far i have not gotten neither pro tools 10HD (10.3.9) nor pro tools 11HD (11.3.1) to see the 192 Interface. I tried the expansion port on the hd i/o and the second port on the card, no luck. what is interesting is that digitest sees the 192, but when i look into the hardware dialog of pro tools only the hd i/o listed.

i've also had no luck connecting the 192 to port 1 of the card, without the HD i/o

so maybe someone out there knows if i am missing something? or he has the same experience? or he/she knows a solution?

thank you all!

I have an HD I/O 16x16 and a 96I/O connected to an HD Native PCI card and it all works on a Mac Pro 5,1.

Possible the 192 is defective?

May be trash prefs and let PT rescan?

i will try trashing the prefs, thanks!
i borrowed two interfaces, both have not been recognised so far. i don't think both are defective, since digitest recognises both...

Is the Digilink cable the same? Looking for commonalities.

That might be bad? Working to show up, but not connecting to the app?? A stretch for sure but.....

Digitest indicate a newer firmware version?

Loop sync cables connected both directions?

I've heard some horror stories about 5.1 model Mac Pro and most of the time the guy reveals that it's a 4.1 "upgraded" to 5.1

Not saying this is what you have, but for some reason -- and I don't know why -- it seems 4.1 models are more stable than 5.1 models.

Sync Cables connected both ways.
Fimware up to date.
JFreak is a right, it is a 4.1 upgraded to 5.1, but is there real evidence, that this could be the cause for PT not recognizing the 192 i/o?

If you are working with multiple interfaces, I would test each one by itself. If the 192 is the digital version, you may need to configure the digital format(AES vs Optical) Does each interface appear under the hardware setup menu?

I'm running a 5.1 Mac Pro that was 'updated' from 4.1 and although I am running an HD Native card my 192s, both Analog and one Analog configured as a Digital are recognized and working properly.
I know it is not HDX with HD I/O but I can confirm that the 192s are recognized on a 5.1 that used to be a 4.1 machine.

thanks for your inputs!
that's the problem: the 192 is not listed in the hardware setup dialog (both in 10&11), but it shows up in digitest.
i will hook up the 192 by itself tomorrow.
so basically you all are saying that theoretically it is possible to run a 192 i/o connected via HDX card with the most recent version of pro tools 11HD on a mac with mavericks installed. that gives me hope!
