What is Direct Connect from Native?

What is all of this direct connect stuff. It sounds real cool. What in the heck is it?

Direct connect from Native Instruments that is.

it's a piece of software(downloadable from digidesign.com)for mac systems only...at present...to be able to integrate softsample,synths,drum machines,etc. into the pro tools environment.So with a midi controller (instead of a really expensive outboard synth or keyboard)you can plug into PTLE and get all the lovely sounds generated by particular brands of software (native instruments is only one brand)that replicate classic synths n stuff, and you can control all the adjustable parameters on your computer.Cool stuff alright! problem is pc's aren't supported yet, although rumour has it that they will be very shortly.hope this makes sense.
