Default Error message in background

Hello, I have a G4/867 with PTLE 5 and have a problem with an update trying to run in the background at random times. First, I'll be running a PT sessions and the program will start to bog down. Now I have figured out that it is an update trying to run on the computer. The G4 is not connected to the net and I only run PT on the machine. I am not a MAC guru and need some help on where to look to STOP is random update from running. The error message reads"Program update has failed". I hit the ok and it goes away and then the PT session runs fine again. Can someone help here?

I would start by looking in your "Startup Items" folder inside your "System Folder" if there is anything in there you don't want to launch at startup either trash it or move it out of that folder.

There is nothing at all in the "startup items" folder. Do you have any other ideas ? Thanks , I really need the help.

Have you got "LiveUpdate" on your computer? It comes with Norton Utilities, and it can be set to check for updates automatically...

Hello, no I dont have Norton. I had trouble with Norton when I used to run my audio on a PC, so when I switched to MAC, I was a little shy to get Norton, Do you use it, and how does it run?

I found a folder in the "control panel" and it was named "software update", when I ran it, the problem happened, so I put it in the trash and got rid of it. I reloaded PT to see if everything worked and it did, so I will have to wait to see if it will happen again.
