Licensing Question

Hi,

I recently updated a Pro-Tools installation to the latest version and it is asking me to surrender a 2016 Care Plan, so does this mean I must pay again to use the software?

I wasn't aware so much regarding ILok at the time I originally installed the software so I need to know if I need to pay any extra or whether it is just housekeeping in terms of the licenses, or whether I have cut the time short on the care plan arrangement, or worse; do I need to purchase a new Pro-Tools license.

PT 12.6 and up requires the swapping of your old licence for an updated version. There is no cost involved.

I want to upgrade to 12.7 on one machine but leave 12.4 on another. Does the same licence cover both?

Yes they do but you need to surrender the old license bundle when updating to 12.6 and up. You will be asked which license to surrender when you update and you just choose the one you used to use which in turn will authorize PT10/11/12 versions so you can have 12.4 on one computer and 12.7.1 on another. We have set up our rooms that way but you can of course only use one machine at a time with one ilok key license.
