Omni-192 Expansion Questions
Hey all. I'm thinking of expanding my Omni setup with a Digidesign 192, and I just want to verify that this combo will work, and actually give me eight additional recording inputs, correct?
And all I need is a Digilink cable and a Digilink to Digilink Mini adapter? And do I run the 192 serially off the Omni, or directly into the HD card? Thanks for any help.

Re: Omni-192 Expansion Questions
Yes it will work just fine. I would use the adapter cable mini out of Omni through adapter cable into the 192. You're supposed to be able to run both units separately but I seem to recall something being a little funky when I tried it that way although I don't remember exactly what it was since it's been awhile.

Re: Omni-192 Expansion Questions
Indeed^^^ Not only should it work fine, it will give you 16 more IO, depending on which 192 and what outboard stuff you might have. Example, the "standard" 192 has 8 analog IO and 8 digital IO(on AES and lightpipe). With a lightpipe preamp like the Focusrite OctoPre Mk II Dynamic, or the Behringer ADA8200, you would get the full 16 EXTRA ins and outs.
The analog inputs of the 192 require external preamps as they are line level only. And be aware that the 192 DIGITAL, has no analog IO, and cannot take expansion cards

Re: Omni-192 Expansion Questions
Thanks, all, I think I'll give it a go with a standard 192 8 X 8 analog. It's rare that I need more than the Omni's standard 4 inputs, but on those few occasions it's been a royal pain jury-rigging additional inputs through the ADAT port.
