Default Odd I-lok message on pc boot

Just out of the clear blue, nothing has been changed, but when you boot the PC, (Win 10) a message appears saying the I-lok cannot be used across multiple or differing operating systems. Anybody else have this one occur? It doesn't do it every time....I'm stumped.

Very odd! Is the iLok plugged directly into the PC or on some kind of hub. Do you have some local network setup in play that is confusing it? I would start by uninstalling the iLok software and downloading/installing the latest version(never seen this message here on windows 10 or windows 7)

Straight in the back of the pc (on a 6" extension cable.) One thing DID occur....Comcast said their modem was sending "feedback spikes" back up the line, and came out & put in a new modem. Now I can't get network on this pc, and have spent 3 days trying to figure out why. Something create a glitch, maybe? So of course now I can't get online either. Wondering if there's a case to run a Windows Repair? Makes me nervous. I can still use PT 12 without any issues at all, but the I-lok message screams to me that something in there is out of sorts.

Aha! Sounds like the new modem is the first step in solving this Hey Comcast....your stuff doesn't work......

It's disconnected til I figure this out, but I couldn't get on the network (internet or local) with it anyway. Entirely possible that it fried my network adapter. Grrrr. What else could it have broken?

Tough to say, but there are lots of wireless solutions that connect via USB

Tried one. It wouldn't connect. Everything else in here connects just fine. Office pc & printer are hardwired. I pad and I phones and tv all connected via wifi. But this one (studio) computer will not network. Call me sytmied.

I'm getting the same thing. Coincidentally, my onboard NIC on my motherboard seems to have expired.

My hunch is iLok is using the network adapter as a "System ID" and the dead (and eventually) replaced network adapter will confuse it until rectified.

Some software authorization techniques use (or used?) this as a way to lock the authorization to a particular computer.

Got the network issue straightened out, anyway. Bought a new network card for the ProTools PC and it's up and running again. And the I-lok messsage doesn't appear on this machine. BUT. On the BACKUP rig, (Win 7/PT 8.0.5) I'm getting the same I-lok error message every time I boot the computer. It's on a wireless network adapter instead of hard-wired. Eh???
