Frequency Ducking Plugins
I just recently started looking into frequency ducking plugins and there are quite a few to choose from. Most seem to be included as one of many gadgets in plugins that could probably fly to the moon if you set them correctly...and they're expensive. Neutron 2 immediately comes to mind.
Then there's Track Spacer. It gets good reviews and is reasonably priced. I'm curious what you all think of it, how it compares to freq ducking included in the higher end (more expensive) plugs and if there are other plugs specifically dedicated to freq ducking. Thanks. |

Re: Frequency Ducking Plugins
Track Spacer is killer. It's perfect (for me) for the times when I'm just looking to carve out space in a certain range of frequencies, in a transparent manner, as opposed to normal sidechaining which is something I generally use as more of an effect.
Dynamic EQ is pretty popular these days, for similar reasons. TDR Nova, SurferEQ, and the like.

Re: Frequency Ducking Plugins
I know the OP stated that he is looking for ducking exclusive plugins but I just thought that I would state the obvious and say that any eq plugin will do the trick. We use the stock Avid EQ for this purpose all the of the time and it’s, of course, free.

Re: Frequency Ducking Plugins
You're referring to carving out space manually, yes? I thought that Track Spacer analyzed a specified track and it's sidechain then made the EQ adjustments on it's own. That's what I was asking about, if there are any other similar, stadalkne'867 plugs worth mentioning.

Re: Frequency Ducking Plugins
Track Spacer is absolute unique and I know no other plug in which can duck the specific frequency spectrum of an Instrument to another track. Neutron can not do that.
this is the much better way to duck the bass when the kick is playing. in the past this was (and still is) a trick to duck the whole bass level with a side chain compressor triggered by the kick drum. doing this with the track spacer and also giving it a little bit hi-cut in the side chain (to save the hi frequency), gives absolute transparency between Kick and bass. But IMO its always good to solve eq overlapping problems the old way by giving Frequency overlapping tracks different EQ Curves. In this case the iZotope plugs are helping you. but you can do this with every EQ. Its not easy to do this :) |
