Default MBox 2 Mini and Mac Mini

I'm having an issue with my mbox 2 mini and Mac Mini.

Seems that my Mac will not recognize or lose communication with my mbox. It will give me the kernel error at shutdown and make me manually hold down my power button to power down the mac.

If I begin a session in PT, I can always tell there is a communication issue cause my VU meters flat lines at about 0dB (with no sound). I have to shutdown PT's, then unplug the usb from the MINI and replug it in to fix the issue.

Anyone else having this problem? Any ideas on fixing it?
