Default OT: creating drum tracks solution?

I've been using a cheap Yamaha keyboard that has some basic drum sounds integrated into it. It has served me well in the past for just allowing me to have a tempo for keeping time till I finish a song, then I just dump the drum track.

I am looking for a more sophisticated drumming solution now, whereby I would be able to create my own real sounding drum tracks for a final mix. In other words, a drum machine or something where I can be the drummer But I am totally new to this arena (drum machines, midi?). I am a guitar player I was wondering what other people here are using to create their own drum tracks? I've seen some people use large keyboards (Korg?) that had some awesome sounding drum sounds. Unfortunately, I am on a budget since I just purchased a Digi 001. Are there any relatively cheap solutions for creating decent sounding drum tracks via a Digi 001? Any pointers/suggestions, etc. welcome. Thanks.

well, i can only suggest what I've used, the roland xp-30.
here you can hear a sample or 2.
the roland costs a cool grand, not relatively cheap, but not relatively expensive. right in the middle i would say.

basically, what I would think, you buy something for a $100, and you get $100 sounding drums, and/or not as many drums.

if you can't play drums, it obviously serves you no purpose to buy an electric kit.
