Default PT10, Fasttrack C600 Selected ASIO audio device not initialised

I have been using PT 10.3.5 with an M-Audio fast Track C600 (1.0.2) fine for some months until I disconnected everything to store my computer for security whilst I was in the States for three weeks. On return, firing it up I get the error message "The selected ASIO audio device could not be initialized". I have methodically tried the USB cables in different slots, Repairing the Fast Track driver and Repairing the Pro Tools install, all to no avail. Not sure what else to do, please advise.

Default Re: PT10, Fasttrack C600 Selected ASIO audio device not initialised

Did you plug the FT C600 back into the same USB port as it was in when the drivers were installed? Windows has a habit of not recognizing things that were installed when in one port and then moved to another port. I would try uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling them, making sure, if you remove the USB cord later, be sure to plug it back into the same port.

Also, I don't think USB 3.0 ports are qualified for the FT C600, if that's what you used.

Cheers,

Sounds like you have an ASIO device selected as the playback engine when you likely want the C600.

Hold down the "N" key when Pro Tools is starting up. Select the C600 device as the playback engine when the playback dialog appears.

What happens now?

Default Re: PT10, Fasttrack C600 Selected ASIO audio device not initialised (SOLVED)

Thanks for your input. The Fast-track did show in the device selector screen, but would not initialise. Also the Fast-track was working fine on its own so it was not a Windows/connection issue. In the end I completely un-installed the Fast-track and re-installed it and Pro Tools then recognised it, the repair option I tried for the Fast-track driver did not have the same effect. So it would seem that it was a Pro-Tools issue rather than a Windows/ASIO issue.

Whilst I had not wanted to un-install and re-install Pro-Tools, on finally loading it, it came up with the upgrade option from 10.3.5 to 10.3.6 that requires an un-install/re-install anyway. Also I shall be upgrading to version 11 shortly anyway as that looks like a "must have".

At least I know for future reference that the way to fix this problem is to completely un-install and re-install the interface driver.
