Default Pro Tools 8 Recording Issues

Ok, I just got Pro Tools 8 installed and went for my first record session. Every thing was fine monitoring but when I went to play it back it sounds terrible.

The sound was so scratchy you could barely make out thy guitar parts. I tried both channels and same result. I played the aif file thru windows and sound the same.

What is going on?

I have a MBox 2 w/ Pro Tools 8
ASUS P5K board
Intel Core 2 Quad
4096 MB DDR2-SDRAM
