Default more than 1 midi track

Ok, so I haven't gotten a midi keyboard yet, but I am playing around with midi by using the pencil tool. Here's my situation. I have one midi track that has a strings w/orchestra sound on it (using sampletank SE). Now, i want to insert another midi track so i can track my drums. I've tried creating another midi track and aux input, but it just ends up playing back the same instrument used on the other midi track. I also get the error that reads "could not complete your request because access violation occured. Surely there can be more than one midi instrument in a song. How do I do this? I've tried using channel 2 on the sampletank plugin but I still get nothing. Can you guys help?

Default Re: more than 1 midi track

You should be able to run up to 16 midi tracks with 1 Sampletank. All you need to do is set up Sampletank on 1 stero aux track. The first midi track, set the output to Sampletank chanel 1, load your string synth on that channel, I like the Comp Orchestra personaly. On the next midi track set the midi output to Sampletank chanel 2 and on the Sampletank plug load, say the "dry" kit for drums on chanel 2. To do that click on the row of numbers (1-16) on the bottom of the Sampletank plug. Each number you'll be able to load a diferent instrument. I think having 2 Sampletank plugs might be causing your problems, if anything it will save you on CPU. If want to record it to audio I sugest bussing the aux to an audio track, and playing each midi file on seperate passes that way you'll have the individual instruments seperated, otherwise you'll be dealing with a "sub mix" of all your midi files.
Hope this helps.
