I regularly check into Custom Shop and it was there; all I had to do was to 'restore my gear' and it was there.

Interesting this is these last two freebies already are in a couple of plugin packages but for those that don't have them it's a good thing (free is good).

It glues exceptionally well here! Thanks IK

How does it compare to IK's LA2A emulation? That one is my favorite for smoothing out spiky piano and synth audio.

I removed all the unauthorized ik plugins so I haven't had a chance to compare them but it sounds very different than the other la2a emulation I have. In fact it is very different from most compressors I have, super clean and "round" like the PT stock compressor/limiter

Never used the stock PT comp/limiter. As a matter of fact the only stock PT plugin I've ever used was Reverb One.

I love it, to me it sounds very transparent, I like to use it in the first slot when I record DI bass to control the loudest peaks for example. The only stock dynamic plugin that I wish it was more complex is the de-esser.
The Opto comp sounds very similar to me, it pretty much takes anything you throw at it

Tried the OptoComp on a piano track I was having a problem with when I used the compressor part of the Waves TG12345 plugin (it was giving me a pop at the beginning of a run of notes). Came out really nice with a little tweaking. To me it likes to be driven a bit harder than one would think.

Now whether it works miracles on other sources I don't yet know. I doubt it'll replace the LA2A IK emulation but it may well help.
