Default loudness meter, free plug ins, thank you Avid

I just wonder, Avid...Pro Tolls 10 should be the leading software for postproduction.
If Avid sales a pro packet like PT ver. 10, how do we know that we
are produce the right level without any loudness meter.
The new standard r 128 need a loudness meter that we can trust and
where is it ? Avid´s phase scope is absolute not precise, and is useless
for pro working. This should be the most important plug in and should be
a must that comes with all pro DAW.
So you can buy a professional DAW software like PT 10 and then have to buy extra plug ins
from others compagnies to make it work, that is the issue ...!!!
Not good enough if you ask me. The broadcaster demand that you
delivers your product in the new r 128 standard and Avid won´t
help you here...

before all the others say this and I am not on any side ... pro tools is scalable to what you need .. software only for the home recordist up to full blown post production. including all these features for YOU or ME would not work. devils advocate says that all the other DAW's have these features .. ? i see your point as Avid being the "Leader" in the post market but there are folks like me that would rather have a 3rd party plugin from say Durrough, the people that make great meters. Avid may make a loudness meter but as my T-shirt says "meter people know levels"

i hear what you are saying, it is not falling on deaf ears ...

cheers

Lots of meter plugs out there that support this, and other standards. Some are free. Do a little digging. Start here -

Quite frankly, i'm not sure where these kind of comments come from. I 've been a professional for over 20 years and understand the ProTools/Avid concept perfectly. its designed as an audio 'pallette' if you will, and you then decide how you want it be loaded. if you don't LIKE THAT, then go buy something else. they certainly can fix some bugs quicker, and develop some things quicker, but overall i don't understandf how people can't grip that concept. either thier just glass half empty types, or thier stoopid. one of the two.

Sorry guys I did not wanted to be rude....and I admit that I should have wrote more gently.

I use Pro tools. I like PT, it is good, therefor I am using it.
I do understand why we buy plug ins, we do have different task to do.
The old PT BNR was not good enough for me so I bought Waves restoration
packet. I some times do recording in MS so I bought a MS plug in decoder, and a master limiter, and... ect.
And yes I will allso buying a loudness meter, Waves or Nugen.
But, restorations plug ins, or ms decoder or others special plug ins we need for a special jobs, we need to buy, I agree.

All I was trying to explain (clearly show in a bad way) that R 128 is not that new a idea, so Avid have time to develope a decent meter that we can use in the new standard.

I do find that a good meter is very very important, allso for all new customers that will buy PT for the first time and have to learn PT and audio editing. I do find that a decent loudness meter should be there.

I am sorry that I did not explain better in the beginnig of this thread.

Thanks
