Default Adding MIDI drums to acoustic drums - Velocity

Hey guys, so I know how to add MIDI notes to an acoustic drum track (the whole tab to transient copy paste approach), but:

A: Is there a tool for shadowing audio peaks with MIDI notes faster (the copy paste approach can be time consuming and annoying)?

B: Is there a way to adjust the MIDI "shadows" to be more dynamically responsive to the audio track?

Thanks in advance guys :)

I dont know the answers to your questions but agree this method is time consuming- I hope someone comes along with some tips. Also people swear by the Slate Trigger plugin but I've never used it.

Slate Trigger and Drumagog work quite well and will follow/track dynamics pretty well. You might try running drum tracks thru Melodyne to create a midi file as that SHOULD also follow dynamics. I use Drumagog to augment or replace acoustic sounds, or I paste in samples I create from the kit on the tracks(created by advancing paste the end of the song, and having the drummer record single hits on each drum). I have also used those "homemade" samples in Drumagog, but it sounds better if I paste them in(takes longer, but sometimes its worth it). Pretty sure that Massey's DRT plugin also creates a midi track and that would probably be my first stop to check out for your purpose.

PT 10 and under only, until they get AAX out the door.
