Default Is there a secret list?

Sorry for the provocative title, but...

I have a fairly simple setup with my MacBook Pro and 2 external screens. I often get 'Pro Tools not responding' in the 'Force Quit Applications' tool, usually after I have done some work on a freshly opened Protools app (sometimes an hour or so, sometimes sooner). I boot ProTools, do work, close out, and then when trying to open a project by directly clicking on the newer or same project, need to force quit Protools and reboot to continue.

Is there a list of what apps, windows, settings, etc that need to be set for this NOT to happen? It's happened for years for me, and now with this special situation of quarantine, I am hoping that the gurus here can help me (in the past everyone was of course busy with their work and lives). Here is my setup:

Model Name: MacBook Pro
Model Identifier: MacBookPro14,2
Processor Name: Dual-Core Intel Core i5
Processor Speed: 3.1 GHz
Number of Processors: 1
Total Number of Cores: 2
L2 Cache (per Core): 256 KB
L3 Cache: 4 MB
Hyper-Threading Technology: Enabled
Memory: 8 GB
Boot ROM Version: 205.0.0.0.0
SMC Version (system): 2.44f4
Serial Number (system): xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Hardware UUID: 0638E76F-FD07-56CB-84AC-924354C1CC34

Which PT version and OS version are you running? Though it may not be your real problem, it is advised to have at least 16GB memory on current PT system

Sure it should but your experience may not be great. Have you considered updating to recently released 2020.5 version? 2019.12 is first pne to even run on Catalina

I was told that that version was still causing problems for Catalina?

It was the first version capable to run on Catalina. 2020.3 was much better and it seems 2020.5 is even better. So anyone running 2019.12 should update, IMO

I wonder why AVID posts to NOT do this? Any way, the only option is getting another computer?

Thanks SO much for the info - I have bitten the bullet and purchased a new macbook pro w/ 17 processor and 32 gig memory / 1TB storage. As always, the combination of gear lust and a nudge from this forum has moved me up closer to Nivana.

Thanks again.....

OK, have the latest MacBook Pro:

MacBook Pro
Model Identifier: MacBookPro16,2
Processor Name: Quad-Core Intel Core i5
Processor Speed: 2 GHz

with the latest IOS

(10.15.5 (19F101))

and latest Ptools software
(2020.5.0)

and I still have 'not responding' a lot. Is there (for example) a way to find if there is interaction with Filemaker Pro Advanced, or Safari, for example?
