Default USB 2 card compat ?

I'm in need of a USB 2 card for my PT rig (G4 1.25 sp / OS 10.4.9 / PT HD2 7.4). Can't find any compat info. Any suggestions, any problems. I won't be using it while running PT. It will only be used on another system (10.4.11) installed on the same computer for a video app.

Default Re: USB 2 card compat ?

From what I've read on apple's forums, the best cards for USB 2.0 are the ones that have the NEC chipset. Ironically, I have not been able to find a single NEC card that specifically states mac compatibility, but if it has the nec chipset it should work better than any of the others.

From what I can tell, there is no card that will support usb 2.0 speeds in OS 10.2.x or earlier. This kind of sucks, I don't like the idea of having to boot into OSX every time I want to do a transfer

The other issue common among these cards(and possibly inherent to all of them) is that they don't support sleep. The only cards that clearly state this problem are the sonnet cards, but from what I've heard, most - if not all of the others also have this problem. If anyone knows of one that supports sleep on an mdd g4, that would be awesome.

I am also in the market for one of these cards for my dual 1.0 G4 mdd, and curious to see what other's have found to work best.

Just USB but a USB plus eSata would also be OK...
