Three iPads!? Man, F that. I'd rather just have a couple of high res touch screens.
And didn't Mackie try this already with some other low end digital console and if flopped miserably?

Re: Mackie AXIS looks super sweet !! S3L competitor maybe ...
I had some "hands on" time with it. My 2 cents(and please take it that way): As a live solution, its not bad at all, provided you are content with a few details such as;
32 input limit(I think S3L can go higher) limited effects(something that the X32/M32 are much better for) HUI functionality is questionable at the moment(Mackie say they are working on this, but who knows when, or how well it will work) Integration into recording is mainly as a simple multi-tracker for live(which may be all you want or need) If they made it a lot less expensive, it would compete a lot better IMHO Love the concept. Hate the price. On the fence about the package for live use(but my needs/wants may be very different than yours). For the same $5K, you could have a Midas M32 with remote snake(and still use several iPads too). While the Mackie is a near-match for IO, the sound and effects of the Midas win out for me(over both the Mackie, for reasons above. And the S3L for ease of use). Of course, S3L wins on PT functionality
