Switching clients apps in Core causes kernel panic
I'm still having the issue of Core Audio Manager not quitting completely. It won't show up in the force quit dialogue but it's still got the "open application" marker in the dock.
Sometimes when I quit the Core Audio manager in order to start PTLE, I get a kernel panic. I reinstalled OS X (10.4) and used the combo updater to get to 10.4.9 I also reinstalled PTLE 7.3.1 cs 3. hardware is a 2nd generation dual 2.0 G5 with an 002 rack. thanks! btw, how do I get the "mirror" option checkbox in the CAM options pane to stay checked?

Yep, I am on 10.4.10 with I believe the earlier dual 2.0 G5 (eight memory slots) and now a 003. CoreAudio is broken and believe Apple did it. I have trouble with the Digi and Motu managers loosing their interfaces. Much of the time I can change from 48 to 44 or vice versa and they will again find their interface. This happens even with one of them running at a time. I just had the Digi CAM die after sitting all day with the 003 connected and nothing active. Now it will not even force quit. From the terminal window it seems to be a zombie process and kill -9 will not end it. I will logoff and login and that usually works. Aggravating! Take it EZ, Robert |

Re: Switching clients apps in Core causes kernel panic
Robert,
Sometimes it's enough to not feel completely alone. So thanks for that. I also have a Rosetta 800 connected and changing from 44.1 to 88.2 usually requires that I shut down the Rosetta 800 + the Digi 002 rack and the G5, then restart everything thus: 1. G5 2. 002 rack + Rosetta 800 I still don't know if I miss tape, though.

Anyway, I found that if I exited ALL apps then the CAM did quit and I could restart it or let an app restart it. Did not have to logout. Wish Apple would fix it but Leopard may be the fix. Hang in there, Robert |
