Yes, it's a shame. EuCon can't be that complicated... It's probably the crappy EuControl software that can't handle the S3 properly.

And why is one bug fixed in a ProTools release and another similar bug will be fixed in the next EuControl release?

I bought the S3 thinking it's treated by Avid like they are developing a professional tool, like the S6. (the name and ads make you think that... and the price of course)
Using it now for a while it seems just like a blown up Artist Mix and is probably maintained by the same person/people that take care of the Artist series.

It doesn't even have an entry in the Support Center hardware menu:

I'm sorry you've had issues with your S3. Each release we are improving the product though. If something breaks along the way we try to fix it as soon as we can. Different software applications have different release cycles. A bug can be in Pro Tools code or EuControl code. So, we may fix bugs in Pro Tools and that release ships before the EuControl release that contains other bug fixes. This is why different fixes come out at different times in different applications.

Thanks for pointing out the issue about the Support form missing an S3 option. I am looking into it.

Right now we spent 5k on a fader controller, I have 3 stuck faders here (many others with same problems in this forum), I'm still waiting for replacement incl all that delivery-hassle which no one pays me for, and really quite a lot of major bugs which are not hidden in some sub-menus.

I have to admit, I really would have expected something else, when I ordered this quite expensive avid-hardware...

Yep, that one slipped through unfortunately. But, we fixed it as soon as we discovered it and put it out in the next release, 11.3.1.

We think we have a fix for the fader issue which we are testing now. I am sorry about the frustration that has caused thus far. It's definitely not what we want your experience to be with the product.

well, if I may comment:
the S3 has been shipped end of November. So far we have the following major bugs:

1. Plugin Window doesn't follow the selection in channel mode
2. Faders go to sleep
3. Plugin parameter display is sometimes showing on the wrong knob.

(3. got introduced with 11.3.1 which fixed the "ProTools is crashing when attentioning a track on S3 with no EQ on it."

then there are the major design flaws:

- touching faders when attentioning tracks
- the knobs are in the way of the lower half of the upper knob displays
- the touch strip is useless

and I could write a long list of minor annoying things

Another small bug, I wish to power the S3 off at night (so I can cover it with a dust cover), and doing so seems to crash EuControl. (Or when it doesn't, I have to restart EuControl anyway for the surface to be recognised.)

It's good at least I don't have to restart Pro Tools, but it'd be nice to fix this.

I think that's the nature of EuCon. Once you've removed a device you have to select "restart EuCon applications" and the S3 is there again in a couple of seconds.

You don't turn off your computer at night?

Well, I call them major bugs, since these are issues which I came across after a few minutes of work.

I mean, you check how to control an EQ with S3: Switch a band on, switch it off, and you’ll see, that the lights on S3 do not work. Turn the freq-knob of High-Band, you see that the related display is not responding, instead of that the display of low-band is responding. Then you see that the mapping is totally weired: For example filter 1 is right to filter 2, mid-band is right to high-band. After this - as a beta-tester - I would give the feedback to development, that right now you cannot control EQ in a halfway professional sense. And when you cannot control EQ fast and intuitively, and cannot rely on the faders, how to use this unit in a mix…?

- single faders stop working until restart
- “In”-lights does not correspond to actual status
- Parameter feedback on display is broken
- EQ Plugin mapping is weired and mixed up (e.g. EQ3 and ChannelStrip)
- Filter-Slope is not controllable
- PT crashes when removing EQ in software
- Nuendo crashes when nudging selected channels quite fast

The parameter feedback of Surround-Panner is also broken! When adjusting the Center% the changes are displayed on the LFE-Display.

what's going on with EuControl? This was from customer support on March 9th:

"Please install the latest EUCONTROL update once it is available later on this month, and let me know if there are any further issues "


I already lost hope there will be any new features, but please fix the basics...
