Ultimate software-only and Ultimate using the HDn card/TB box. Not HDX.

Voices for HDX are determined by the number of cards and the cards get automatic increases per card with no charge.

As the number of voices on systems without Avid hardware are computer dependent we should in theory have as many voices as the computer can handle right? Or is there limitations outside Avids programming which makes our voice count tied to a specific number?

Thanks for any clarification on this.

If you're asking if there is some technical reason why the voices are capped, I think the answer is no. It's an artificial constraint on Avid's part.

Increased voice counts and the ability to make edits and add plugs on the fly suggests to me that the new PT will be more powerful and efficient. Perhaps that means 2019 will use CPUs in a more streamlined way, resulting in fewer CPU-related errors. My fingers are crossed.

It's capped for stability.

I predict we will start seeing a bunch of Ultimate software users complaining about their computers not being able to handle the workload of the 1152 voice count sessions with their voice packs.

+1 to be truthfull I'm not too fussed either..... PT fits my workflow just that fact alone it would be pretty hard to move me. Plus when ever something comes up that pushes me to think otherwise someone with better knowledge than me comes along with an answer. I was using Cubase prior to taking on PT instead, nothing against Cubase but after using PT for a while jumping back to Cubase seemed foreign to me. PT shortcut sys is what catches me too. Plus if you had jumped on the Xmas sale your yearly fee would have been only US$99
