Default AVID Stock Up 15% on Good News

AVID (parent company of Digidesign) reports earnings tomorrow. Is this company for real or what? Stock is up over 400% in the past year and they just had a profitable quarter in Q1 with a Net of over 5 Million. Revenues were up 22% and net up over 50%.

From Yahoo Finance:
Financial Summary
Avid develops, markets, sells and supports a wide range of software and systems for creating and manipulating digital media content, including video, audio and graphics. For the three months ended 3/31/03, revenues increased 22% to $112.2 million. Net income totalled $5.5 million vs. a loss of $3.7 million. Revenues reflect increased demand across most product lines. Earnings reflect improved margins in both Video and Audio segments and a positive currency effect.

What does this mean for Digi002 hardware owners? You bought the wrong stock. LOL. If you invested 2500.00 in AVID last year instead of the 002 your investment would be worth over 10K and you would have enough to own a PTHD192 system today.

My hats off to AVID and Digi for a great turn around story and great management. Way to go.

Wow.... The Motely Fool always says to invest in companies you know and like... up 400%! That's freakin' amazing in this economy.
And with the growth of the PC platform, it's only going to get better.

Digidesign is part of AVID. They could give us a little present....couldnt they?

Say a free OMF tool for winXP.

I say it is reassuring to know this is a company that knows how to run a business...

Other then that i hope my mortgage has some AVID-stock in it...

TEWKSBURY, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 17, 2003--Avid Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq: AVID - News) today reported strong results for the second quarter ended June 30, 2003. Revenues for the quarter were $113.3 million versus $106.1 million in the corresponding quarter in 2002. Net income for the second quarter was $7.8 million or $.25 per diluted share compared to net income of $152,000 or $.01 per diluted share for the corresponding quarter in 2002. Net income for the six-month period ended June 30, 2003 was $13.3 million or $.43 per diluted share compared to a net loss of $3.5 million or $.14 per share for the same period in 2002.

If you think Avid's stock went up just because of PCs its a good thing you are a vet and not a stockbroker.
