Default Clue me up on the possibility of Strike and V-Drums

I've been writing drum loops on Strike for years, and although i'm not a drummer I have my favourite kit saved as a preset ready for any new song I write. But, it can take weeks for me to tweak a complete song via keyboard for super-realism - especially if i'm shooting for Mitch Mitchell or Ginger Baker style rolls and fills.

It's got me wondering - is Strike a program that can actively embrace V-drums as a MIDI input, or is it more of a program based on loop writing?

I'm wanting to move away from keyboard programming, toward getting a mid-range electronic kit specifically for programming MIDI within ProTools, but I want to make sure that Strike will recognise the full gambit of hit options - from rim shot to a snare roll, open/closed hi-hats, centre/off-centre drum hits, etc.

I'm aiming for release quality results, so if Strike isn't a good VI + V-drum option - what software is?

Should work fine. Worst case would be needing to assign the proper midi note to each pad/trigger on the drum brain. Using a Roland TD10 kit with ezdrummer, SD2 and Addictive Drums here and love it.
