Audio Recording Early

Doing a loopback test with M-Powered which is acting funny. When I send a signal out through output 7 on the 410 and then back into input 2, the recorded signal actually occurs before the audio on the originating track. I found a tiny blurb on this in the Digi white paper about Delay compensation, but searched through the DUC and the reference guide, and couldn't find anything.

Anyone know why this is happening and if it's possible to disable it?

it´s the general problem with FireWire protocol itself and the M-Audio driver.
But it´s not limited to M-Audio alone.

I had some M-Audio technician talk about it.

Does anybody else have any info on this? It doesn't seem that it could be a firewire issue. I'm not sure how firewire could make it travel back in time. I would think it would have to be a software or driver issue no?

it´s a problem caused by the M-Audio driver, which cannot read the proper timing from the firewire protocol.
So it has to make some 'timing estimations' which currently result in recorded Audio being placed too early in the timeline.

Unless you tinkered with your Mac's Flux Compensator setting in the Time & Date System Prefs, of course.

Ah I see. It seems I misread your first post to read "It's a problem with the Firewire protocol itself..... and/or the M-Audio driver. But what was really meant was that it's an issue with how the M-Audio driver interfaces with the FW protocol.

Although I did install a third party Flux Capacitor in the mac, but it said it was 100% compatible so......
