chances of you getting it there without it clipping are slim due to the wild dynamic range of a bass.

On my SWR Studio 220 when I want more signal I adjust the output of the DI located next to the output. Also you can try turning the gain up on the channel you used (if you went into a mic pre) or after recording it, normalize the track.

Yes. There is also a trim plugin that comes with PT that allows you to add level to a channel.

Hmm weird. I ran my ampeg svt direct into my Presonus today and got a great signal. I just a D112 on my bass cab too. Sounds huge. Check the mic and line switches on the 002r. Another thing if you ever do decide to run a direct and a mic signal on bass is to zoom in on the mic track and slide it in phaze with the direct. It will be slightly behind due to latency. Lining it up makes it sound even tighter and bigger. Then run a compressor plug on it like an Rcomp or the bomb factory stuff.
