Default 11 owns Waves in realism

I just demoed both 11 and Waves Gtr3 back to back, and I must say 11 is way more real sounding. Its actually pretty impressive. The more I play with it, the more I appreciate its striving for a single micd cab. Of course GTR3 has more bells and whistles and sounds bigger due to the stereo setup, but with some mixing, I have a feeling 11 is gonna be quite nice. It really is pleasant and way more authentic compared to GTR3, which to me still sounds fake.

not to get into a heated battle, i actually thought waves was a bit better. i was using mono instances of waves and thought the distortion sounds were less brittle. insert waves fx and you get some fantastic sounds.11 sounds great but if i had to choose i think i would now settle with gtr3. i guess we have to wait and see what pricing is gonna be, i'm pretty sure gtr3 native has a retail price of $600.00,11 will have to be less than half of that in order for me to buy it. really though mic with a real amp is the ultimate but i know this is not possible to have at times. we are lucky to have these great sounding amp sims

Well I didn't think Gtr3 sounded bad, just very fake. I own several tube amps, and have been using modeling for a bit, and to me, Gtr3 isn't a step forward in realism. the distortion and cab sounds were boxy and slightly muddy and not very real. They sounded fine, but as far as realism goes, I don't think I could fool anyone with it. But we all have our preference.
