Default Avid seems to cover the security issues with cloud sharing

Is this what delayed the cloud features in 12?

Interesting, you may well be on to something there. I think good encryption will be a major selling point for post-production people and could make the difference between them adopting the cloud sharing workflow or not, so it makes sense that Avid might held it back in order to implement this.

This...

"Research shows, that on average, pre-release piracy causes a 19.1% decrease in revenue compared to piracy that occurs post-release."

In other words, the majors are blaming people from the inside leaking?
So it's Avid to the rescue? The trend is to keep everything in the "good hands" of the cloud.

Is Avid getting in over their head making promises they or anyone could possibly keep?
Look what happened to Sony.

What happened to Sony is WHY the majors want encryption and limited access! The problem is interns and assistants. The creative team understand they'll never work again and possibly even go to prison if they ever get caught.

I don't know but with the number of customers using their services daily, if Avid were to steal any property of a right holder, it would be seen quickly. They have nothing to gain there by doing that.

Since they're using proprietary crypto there's no way to audit it.
