PT 10 Low Latency Monitor using 828mk3

I am running PT10 on osx 10.7.2 Using a MOTU 828mk3 I am un able to get a signal to pass using analog 1+2 as an output the Low Latency option is lit and checked in the options menu. When enabling the track the plug ins and inserts go dim and you can see the signal on the meter. BUT you can not hear the signal until you play it back? Everything works fine with direct monitor when I use my digi oo2 console. Low latency direct monitor on 1 and 2.analog.. Does anyone know why the motu does not pass input signal in low latency mode? thanks
