HELP/? about USD sync to ATR thru Apogee Rosetta AD

If I want to transfer audio from my analog tape recorder while in sync to Pro Tools Mix +(slaved) thru the Apogee Rosetta using The Universal Slave Driver and the 888/24 is it even possible or do I need the PSX-l00? Here is my dilemma: I have previously transferred the tracks thru the 888 synced to the ATR with the USD, I recently bought a Rosetta and I like the sound for the guitar tracks thru the Rosetta AD better.I have the word clock output of the Rosetta connected to the word clock input of the USD and the USD superclock
out to the 888. I have the AES out of the Rosetta going into the AES 1-2 inputs of the 888. Now in the Session Setup window I have the clock reference for the USD on "Word Clock" (the USD unit itself reads("digital" as the clock reference) and the Positional reference as LTC as the USD is reading the SMPTE from Tape. The USD unit shows itself locked to word clock(red light on). It seems to work but I fear there might be something
wrong with this procedure. Another question
Does it matter if while syncing the USD to the ATR that the clock refernce is Internal VSO or LTC while LTC is the positional reference. What is the correct procedure?
