Default Re: Best Core 2 Series Desktops-Results and Specs

Nick, the 1440 X 900 setting was available and that turned the rectangles back into squares. Thanks.

Sunburst, my firewire is the ASUS VT6306 VIA. So maybe I don't have the problematic version? That would be nice.

The good life is mine!

hmmm... i run my 32" LCD/TV at 1024 x 768 with no weird stretched effect off the VGA port. if you are usin' the same type of monitor then also make sure you are not in panoramic mode, s/b 16:9. panoramic will definitely present a stretched effect
Mykhal c,

1024 x 768 is 4:3 Aspect Ratio & is NOT widescreen

1400 x 900 is a 16:9 Aspect Ratio which IS widescreen

If your monitor is widescreen is should be run with a 16:9 aspect ratio, if it is normal it should be run with 4:3..

Hope this clarifies..

Cheers

N
NickH, i'll have to check those settings out when i get to the studio. just checkin' my 19" on my P4 here in the apt 1400 x 900 is not an option, 1600 x 900 is tho. anyway, i'll check it out. thanks
yeah NickH, no such luck on my quad w/MAXENT 32" LCD/TV. don't have that 1440 x 900 setting. and it probably has to do with it being an LCD/TV. it actually handles widescreen by choosing '16:9' in the LCD menu. then in XP i choose 1024 x 768 which is how MAXENT instructs to use it with a pc too. but it takes that 1024 x 768 and spreads it across 32" of screen very nice!!! yep flat screen LCD/TV vs flat screen LCD monitor is the difference in setup i believe

PTLE, it all looks good. here's a link to the G0 stepping for the Q6600... Q6600 G0 stepping

the G0 stepping runs cooler than the B3 stepping and with NEWEGG you DO NOT know which stepping they will ship you. CLUBIT tells you which one. so on my build i got everything from NEWEGG except the Q6600 cpu. there are builds on the DUC that have used the B3 stepping (because of release timing and availability) but i think at this point most would want the G0 stepping because of the better core temps. and tho i was not familiar with CLUBIT before my search i was definitely pleased with their service!!

Pro Tools LE

Just wanted to let you know for about 12 bucks more you can pick up the Antec P182
case, which make routing cables much easier. Check out this review.

Finally did my testing, it's been running great. Very quiet and my dverb 2 test scored 289 without any overclocking or much tweaking Only thing that was weird is that after installing all of my plugins, my dverb count went down to 256 ? I thought that was strange, is that normal?
