Default USB 3.0 vs 2.0

If Windows 8 are coming out with USB 3.0 why the hell does new Mbox Pro come out with USB 2.0? do they do this purposely? Will Windows 8 users have the same problems with the new Mbox Pro, Pro Tools 8 like Windows 7 users been having problems with Pro Tools 8?

By the way, when does the Avid Pro Tools Mbox Pro come out? i hear it's late October, but when specifically?

??

Windows 8?

What does the OS have to do with a hardware protocol? USB 3 is backwards compatible just like USB 2 is.

Windows doesnt "come with USB".

The reason they went with USB 2.0 was because with the number of I/Os on the mbox, it will never cap out the bandwidth. Not even get close to capping it. Even with all I/Os active. So there is not point increasing the price to afford the more expensive USB 3.0 chipsets, if USB 2.0 will serve the purpose.

BTW, the mbox 3 pro does NOT use usb, it uses firewire.

well i like to keep my windows updated and i'm pretty sure pro tools will not be compatible with windows 8, unless it's the same as 7.

thanks for explaining. i was thinking of going with the Pro because of the Firewire and for other reasons.

It is indeed a more stable connection, Just watch out for which type of chipset you have. Make sure its a TI chipset. VIA also works. (i have one, and it worked with a 002R).

All of which has nothing to do with AVID choosing USB 2 over USB 3.

Your confusing things.

Digi 002 came out when Windows XP was around and it's still compatible 2 major revisions later.
