Default nudge again

What am I missing here? I've posted this before about nudging. After reinstalling PT9 I've selected/highlighted an audio region checked the yellow and black icon in the top right and used full stop and comma to try and nudge but the same as before, the time ruler "marker" moves but not the region itself. It has been suggest on this forum that I try holding control and the comma/fullstop but same result.

It needs to be made a separate Region first. After making the selection, use Command+E to separate that area into a new Region. Then it will nudge. Thanks for the heads up on this. I always use the +/- keys on the number pad, and didn't know about the ,. keys. That'll come in very handy next time I'm forced to edit on a laptop.

You're sure you're doing this?:
  • Select a range of time in an audio region
  • Command+E
  • "," to nudge the resulting new region left, "." to nudge it right.
If the upper-right a-z button is not lit, add the control key to the "," or "." If it's not doing that for you, something has gone awry. That is, at that point, you're looking at a bug or at some other setting interfering with it (shortcuts in Mac System Preferences?).
