Default Installing MP3 Option

Hi there

If anyone can help me with this I'd be really greatful.

I've bought the mp3 Option plug in that enables me to bounce to mp3.

I installed the upgraded pro tools 7.1.1 a while back.

Now I don't know how to install the mp3 option. I've looked through all the help pages, but a) I can't find the Pro Tools Installer application and b) there is no Codecs folder in HD/Digiidesign/Protools

Can anyone help me out here?

Phil

Hey Phil,

From the PT installer, did you also install "MP3 Export Option"? I believe you have to do so and when exporting audio, a window should pop up asking you for the serial number.

Hey

I can't remember but I don't think so. I now can't find the Pro Tools Installer on my Hard Drive - where would it be located?

Thanks so much for the help

Phil

Phil,
your ProTools Installer (version 7) would be on a Digidesign CD disc.
If you open the PTLE Installer, you'll eventually get to a window where you can choose what items are to be installed ("Custom Install"). You can select *only* "Install MP3 CODEC" and it will install it on top of your existing PTLE installtion. When you're done, you should now see a file called "MP3.bundle" that lives in the path;Applications/ProTools/CODECS/MP3.
I think the first time you try and use the Bounce -> MP3 option (or maybe sooner), it will ask you for the MP3 serial number that Digi furnished you when you purchased the option.
good luck with it,

b myers, compser
