newbie: mbox2 as general soundcard.please help

newbie just wanting to know how do i get mbox2 as general cpu sound card. ive got a p4 with plenty of memory. ive checked compatabillity on the website and its all good there. i can get sound in pro tools but i want to use other programs like cubase, realplayer, soundforge so on i also want to here that "ding" noise your pc makes when you stuff up. when i click device control in control panel it says audio device is not supported. but like i said it works in pro tools. it seems like my pc doesnt want mbox2 as general sound card is this true? a very simple problem but i have been at this for 3 days and if anyone can help it would be really great.

install the wavedriver. I believe you can do that through the "add or remove software" on your control panel. Choose Digidesign Protools and choose for change and then modify. Check the wave-driver, and click "yes" on the digital authorization thingy about the windows logo. That should do it.
