Recording to an external HD
I used to be able to record to my External HD with my PC setup. I switched to a Macbook, and it's telling me to enable volume (R) to record. I can't find where to do this. Any help would be appreciated. thanks!!1

Re: Recording to an external HD
Sounds like your external drive is formatted for PC (NTFS or FAT32).
It needs to be Mac formatted. Digidesign say: http://duc.digidesign.com/showthread.php?t=147797 "Make sure all drives are formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled) with OS X’s Disk Utility." I think you will need to: Copy your Pro Tools sessions from your external drive to another drive (internal - if there's enough room). Reformat your external drive. Copy your sessions back. It would be good to backup your sessions first (if possible) so you always have more than one version of each session. Hope this helps. Not sure whether there is an alternative method. Anybody? Re: Recording to an external HD
I forgot to answer your original question.
"I can't find where to do this." In Pro Tools - Windows/Workspace It should say R and R after the name of your drive. You can click on the letters to change them, but it might note let you (PC formatted drive). Richard |
